Peterstow wins hard rock mining award
Peterstow Aquapower has won a prestigious Mining Magazine Award after being voted the most exciting innovation in the
Underground Mining (Hard Rock) - Ancillary and Analysis category.
The awards were given at the 2nd annual Mining Magzine Congress, held in Perth, Western Australia on November 10th and 11th. The Mining Magazine Awards recognise mining technologies and equipment that are deemed to be notable or significant to the industry during that particular year.
Douglas Barrows, Chairman of Peterstow Aquapower, said "It's been an amazing year for Peterstow. Although it was some years ago we first had the idea of replacing the pneumatic mine drills with a closed loop water hydrailic system, it was only this summer that we had a final product that we were able to talk about publicly, so it's fantastic to end the year by winning this award."
"I'd like to thank all those who have helped us along the way from the people who believed in the product enough to invest, to prominent mining figures like Ian Cockerill of Petmin who supported the idea from the start, to our team in Swaziland which I am convinced is one of the best mnufacturing engineering teams in the world."
Mining Magazine Editor, Paul Moore, said "We were very pleased to give this award to Peterstow in recognition of the potential of their innovative drilling solution. As an exciting company which burst onto the gold mining scene earlier this year, we are looking forward to seeing the impact they will have on the industry and we hope this award will help them in achieving that."
